Six Steps to Perfect Feet
Feeling bored at home during lockdown? Here’s an idea: take some time out to give those feet of yours some pampering! With beauty salons around the country closed, this is the perfect time to give your tootsies some TLC and practice some self care.
In today’s edition of Shoe School, we’re going to give you a super useful list of things to do when it comes to caring for your feet. Ready to dive in? Let’s do this…
Feet been hiding in socks all winter? Now is the time to remove all that old nail polish carefully. Use a cotton pad and some nail polish remover and really take the time to remove every last trace.
There’s nothing more relaxing than a long foot bath, and with all that free time you have you can really indulge! Fill the tub with hot water and add bath salts, along with a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Steep those feet for at least 15 minutes, or as long as you feel comfortable.
Pat your feet dry with a towel. Then take a foot file or a loofah and slough off any dead skin from the areas that are hard and callused. Pay attention to your heels, the balls of your feet and the sides. Go gently and stop as soon as the skin feels soft again.
Apply a rich moisturizing lotion all over your feet, avoiding the toe nails if you’re planning to put polish on them. If you have cuticle oil, apply that to the nail cuticles.
Once your toe nails are completely dry, take a nail clipper and trim the nails down as far as you want. Then use a nail file to shape them.
Time for the finishing touch! Apply your nail polish. For best results use a base coat first, then apply two layers of polish, and finish with a top coat. Pro tip: for quicker drying polish, stick your feet under cold water. Job done!
